Ledumahadi (meaning "giant thunderclap" in Sesotho language) is a sauropodomorph dinosaur from the Early Jurassic Elliot Formation in Free State Province, South Africa. The type and only species is L. mafube, known from a singular incomplete postcranial specimen. A quadruped, it was one of the first giant sauropodomorphs, reaching a weight of around 12 tonnes (13 short tons), despite not having evolved columnar limbs like its later huge relatives.
I carefully digitally reconstructed Ledumahadi from fossil records with intensive input from Dr Kimberley Chapelle.
Ledumahadi was fully 3D printed and hand-finished at Scale Studios Nz, hand painted by our incredible team; @nika_beaton @the_desserter_nz @mika_turnbull @punkbogan @louie.w_k @charmant_cherie with eyes by @fourthsealstudios
Ledumahadi now prowls at the Kgodumodumo Dinosaur Interpretive Centre — a stunning new museum in Golden Gate Highlands National Park, South Africa by @digitalfabricsa Digital and @office247_architecture.
